per Yahoo

Chris Haft, of SanFrancisco.Giants.MLB.com, reports the San Francisco Giants will not consider moving SP Tim Lincecum to the bullpen to take a shot at closing. Lincecum pitched in relief while at the University of Washington

I saw this and about flipped. Were the Giant's considering moving him to the bullpen in the last few days? I understand that his mechanics might suit him better in the bullpen...but really?

He's only struck out 33 in 33 innings with a WHIP of 0.99 as a starter....let's throw him in the bullpen :).

I will officially resign from my fantasy baseball team if the Giants place him in the bullpen this season.

Since there are wacky organizations in baseball, I'll work on my draft..."Dear commish, I regret to inform you that I am resigning from my position in the Biohazard organization effective immediately after Tim Lincecum's middle relief appearance on..."

Sounds like this was just a question asked by some reporter following the Bennitez deal. Seems it was never really "considered."

They will never demote him to the bullpen unless he struggles or Ortiz puts up 50+ consecutive shutout innings of relief work.

Its ok dude Lincecum's gonna be in the rotation for years to come. He's a waste of an arm as a closer and better helps the Giants in the rotation.

Yep he's in the rotation for the remainder, barring injury.

I stand by my position of Lincecum's optimal self actualization is in a closer role, not starter. I favor long term high quality success over Dwight Gooden like short term craziness.

If I remember correctly they talked about using him as a closer last year. Or maybe it was a fantasy analyst I don't remember!! Glad he won't be in the pen this year though!! ;-D

Various people have spoken about him as a CL, nothing specific to the GM or manager. do you not think it's a possibility that TL closes this year? well obviously you don't. too bad for you if you're not prepared.
