Teix left with "mild concussion"

SEATTLE (AP) -Texas first baseman Mark Teixeira left the Rangers' game Friday night against Seattle in the third inning because of a mild concussion after getting hit below the left eye with an outfield throw while scoring.

Teixeira was sliding feet first into home after Marlon Byrd's single when Ichiro Suzuki's throw from center field banged off the left side of Teixeira's face and caromed to the dugout railing. A trainer met the 2005 All-Star on his way into the dugout and then examined Teixeira on the bench, as Teixeira squinted and winced.

Mariners doctor Mitch Storey then examined Teixeira and diagnosed the concussion. The Rangers list him as day-to-day.

Mngr Ron Washington quoted as saying that if he feels like he can make an at-bat, then we will give him an at-bat, but his health is most important.

sounds like either he wont play at all and end streak or like Ron says they give him an AB just to keep streak, while he sits rest of day.

I'm sure it was painful but I would think it was kind of funny watching someone get beaned in the head with a baseball (unless it was a batted one )

well it doesn't sound serious.....at least not DL type serious. I assume they'll give him an at bat and then sit him the rest of the game.
