Jason Schmidt Update

May 30 Schmidt worked six shutout innings Wednesday in a rehabilitation assignment for the Inland Empire 66ers of the California League. The 34-year-old right-hander, sidelined since the middle of April with shoulder inflammation, allowed two hits while walking one and striking out seven in the 66ers' 2-1 victory over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

Wondering if anyone out there has heard anything about how his velocity was, etc....

Sounds like he had a pretty good outing, but I'm more concerned about whether or not he's getting his fastball back up to speed.

News: Dodgers SP Jason Schmidt will join the team in Pittsburgh this weekend after pitching six shutout innings with seven strikeouts in a rehabilitation start Wednesday night for Class-A Inland Empire. Manager Grady Little would not say when he expects Schmidt (right shoulder inflammation) to come off the 15-day DL.

Analysis: Schmidt is 1-2 with a 7.36 ERA in three starts this year for the Dodgers. He is expected to make a few more rehab starts before returning to the rotation. Continue to monitor his progress. When healthy, he is capable of being a Fantasy productive player. His poor stats to open the season are a result of his shoulder injury.
