You know, I'm beginning to think your league's $300 cap is exceedingly unrealistic. Your league might want to have it downscaled to $150 or so next year, since there's really no difference in a $1 player and a $25 player when the cap space is so huge. And there's only one team that can theoretically spend $300M on a team, and they're at $200M right now and look to be done shopping.


I think when players become free agents and owners start bidding on them, the prices will level out to what they should be. (E.g. Soriano goes slightly higher than $1.) ;-)

Unfortunately, $1 players can be signed for 3 years maximum. There is a 5 year limit overall.
