Whats up with him...will he be up this year? Will they put him at SS?

I talked with a guy who works for the DRays and he said that he thinks it is doubtful that Longoria is called up this year. He thinks that if he is called up it will only be a September callup. As far as the SS conversion is concerned, I believe that has only been rumored in fantasy circles and not based on a whole lot of fact. He is definitely a plus defender and could probably make the switch if necessary, but the DRays definitely have an excellent prospect already playing the position. I think that even if he did eventually switch to SS he wouldnt complete the transition for a a few years.

So most likely he will be this years version of Gordon/Chris B Young....maybe a 15th rd pick next year in drafts.

I think he will be significantly better than Chris Young. Alex Gordon is a good comparison, although I doubt he will run into the same hitting struggles....I am kind of expecting a David Wright coming out party his first year....20 hrs .290 + AVg and 80/80 on runs and rbis. Not sure about the steals yet, but I think he will have a very solid first season in the majors in that loaded DRays lineup.

I would love to see him get work at 2b (where he would be fantasy gold), keep Iwamura at third, put Upton in center, and tell Baldelli to take a hike.

I think it is much more likely that he will end up at 3rd base and we will see this sort of combination in the near future....

That is a strong young lineup...they may give Longoria some time at SS just to give them some more flexibility, but that is a team that in 2-3 years could be almost dominant offensively and very competent defensively.
