PHILADELPHIA - It went down to the wire but the Diamondbacks got a deal done with last year's first round pick, right-hander Max Scherzer, agreeing to terms in the final hour before Wednesday night's deadline.

The parameters of the deal were not immediately available, but it's believed to be a major-league deal worth at least $4 million.

Scherzer, a pitcher out of Missouri, was the No. 9 overall pick last year. He is represented by agent Scott Boras, who also negotiated a last-minute deal for shortstop Stephen Drew two years ago.

According to the Arizona Republic, the Diamondbacks have agreed to terms with 2006 1st round pick, Max Scherzer.

What do we know on this guy? He can throw is about all I know.

Looks like a future setup man/ potential closer.

Injury risk for sure. Don't see him as a starter though.

I have trouble seeing him healthy at all, if you think Lincecum's delivery is violent, you need to watch this guy !+)

Still, he is a Top Prospect and would have gone Top 20 picks this year again too. Big sign for the D'Backs.
Is pushing for President Obama to pass a law requiring all citizens to be Chicago White Sox fans and make October 1st "White Sox Day" where we all dress as our favorite player. It maybe socialist, but I don't care.

It is alot, but the D'Backs now get 2 Top Draft picks this year to add to an already solid minor league system.
