That article makes some good points. I want to like Steve Phillips because he is from Michigan, but he is horrible. A few things come to mind. 1) He said that the Yankees should give Joe Torre a lifetime contract. 2) His horrible piece on the Mets bullpen that showed the different arm angles of each pitcher. It went on forever and as he mentioned each guy a tiny cutout of their arm angle profile was shown. It was so stupid and ridiculous that everyone on the show was laughing out loud. 3) The fake press conferences from last year which I will not elaborate on.
Like the author mentioned, Neyer, Kurkjian or Olney would be a good upgrade over Phillips and Kruk could easily be replaced with a better former player.
the state of ESPN as a whole is pretty depressing. they are the worst example of the sports media monster that they created in the first place. i miss the time when 'the sports reporters' was a prominent show
I just watch Sportscenter or Baseball Tonight for the score updates and the stat lines on players.....what is said during the show usually just goes in one ear and out the other. I probably wouldn't notice any difference if the volumn was turned down..... the voices aren't why I watch these shows. Just give me the numbers!

I actually never really minded kruk. I thought he was hilarious, but now that now one is saying anything of value on the show it really hurts to have him out there. I really like the Reynolds, Gammons, Kruk lineup. My question is how does Michael Irvin gets away with marijuana possession and keep his job while Reynolds hugs some chick and gets fired?
