I posted this in the trade forum, but wanted some input from the minor league Gurus.
My team is very deep at CF with Beltran, Matthews jr, and Hunter Pence...the main problem is 2b. I've been playing mark ellis all year and it just isn't cutting it. I'm considering offering Hunter Pence to another team for Howie Kendrick.
What do you guys think of this deal for me? Who is the better player now and in the future of these 2 young players. Thanks.
well Kendrick should be better for avg, and I still like him despite the injury. I think trading from a position of strength (CF) to fill a glaring weakness (2B) is always a good idea, especially if you don't have the roster spots to start all 3 CF.
I would do this in a heartbeat in a 20 team league. Kendrick could be top 5 very soon, and at worst is a top 10 second basement for the next 10 years.
Beltran will be a top 15 player for many more years so you would have a hard time finding ample trade value. Right now Pence's value is as high as it will be for a while, and Kendrick's is low.
If you can make it happen I think it is a smart and a good deal.
