Impressive, but it seems like overkill. Also, there is some commentary about the functionality of the gun here. Some of it's pretty funny.

This is essentially the phalanx anti-missile gun already deployed on Naval vessels.

That's an intriguing application of the technology but keeping the sucker filled up w/ ammo would likely be a substantial challenge...

A local restaurant has some letters from a soldier killed in action at the front desk and, according to her account, the soldiers would like anything that would help stave off the mortars.
