Sorry State of Chone

Postby StringerBell » Tue May 29, 2007 11:47 pm

Well, Choney is not in the line-up tonight, is batting .133 with 90 ABs, and has a whopping 3 steals and 10 runs with about a third of the season gone.

Figgins Fantasy Value is an absolute oxymoron right now.

This is worse than the Atkins situation. Plus Willits is playing up a storm. How long do you stick with this guy?

I cant bench him, only play or waive. so it`s been very, very painful
:~(

....especially after he`s served so well in past years...........

I've been almost ready to drop him for several days now, just haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet. I'll give him about one week, but I just can't keep having him waste a roster spot when I could just rotate flavor-of-the-month type players on hot streaks in his place instead. I'm even almost willing to write off the help I expected him to give me in steals.

Yeah---if he isnt stealing he is no help at all. I could even deal with a

250 avg if was getting 2-3 steals a week. But this is just a dead spot on the roster right now, and has been for about a month.

I ended up cutting bait on Figgins yesterday and picked up Freddy Sanchez to be super sub(9 team league). He was just hurting the team too much for me to justify waiting around for him to get his head out of his arse. Even if he does turn it around, the Angels aren't likely to put him in the top of the lineup any time soon(where he can get more ABs and his speed has more of a factor).

Cut him.

You'll feel good about it after you do.

I don't understand how a guy who's been pretty much a .280-.290 career hitter can just plummet into a state like this. A few were suggesting that The Angels rushed Chone back too quickly and he's basically where a hitter would be in Spring Training. Do you guys put any stock into that?

hand injuries are terrible for hitters, which is probably why he is playing so badly. plus his game is AVG driven, so it'll tend to fluctuate.

I cut him a couple of weeks ago for Kendrick. Howie hasn't done much yet but I bet he has better numbers by years end.

I cut Chone and I ain't lookin' back. Can't look back in FBall.

Had him in both my leagues and cut him in both for Willits. Haven’t looked back since. ;-D
