I was looking through some numbers and saw that Ryan Braun's batting AVG is at .267 and his OBP is .250 How is it possible to have a lower OBP vs AVG?

Or am I just missing something?

I believe if they have a sac fly or sac bunt it lowers OBP and not AVG.

Yeah, Sac Flies count towards OBP. And since he hasn't walked or been hit much (if at all) yet, one sac fly would make a difference.

What about when a hitter tries to stretch a base hit into a double or a triple, but are thrown out? Does that count against OBP as well?

No, these are still counted as hits and help both AVG and OBP.
