Thoughts on my newsest team...

I drafted for a 12 team 5x5 roto league. It's a competitive private league and the draft came out pretty even. Here's what I came away with...

I think that you did really well. It looks like a solid squad. You got some bargains on your offense. In fact, the only suggestion that I have is to change your name from "Trojan Pony" to "Baloney Pony."

lol, you think im full of baloney? or that would just be funny? cuz i swear this is my real team. i got ichiro with 20th pick, thome with 29th, Burrell 44th, and Palmeiro 77th. I would say that those are very reasonable picks. Despite this it truly was a good draft...I was helped a lot by what I thought was a very premature closer rush.

thanks. luckily strikeouts dont count against me. and hopefully coors will boost jose and preston's averages. it should. i dont know if this is true but everyone says hernandez' trouble pitch is the breaking ball and the ball doesnt break much at all in coors so he may be in for a great year, at home at least. we'll see.

Not shabby at all my man. I love your 1-2-3 with RJ, Morris and Prior. Only thing that might concern me is 2/3 of your OF (Burrell, Wilson) are very much boom or bust players to me. They both could break out huge (Burrell with an improved lineup and Wilson moving to Coors) but they could also be high risks. Overall though nice looking squad. Good luck!

I thought Burrell broke on to the scene already last year. I'll definitely take his numbers from last season and run with them...I'll expect even more runs with that enhanced lineup. Wilson though is definitely a gamble. I'm counting on the Coors factor which tends to be fairly significant with most players. We'll see. If he doesn't work, I like my bench...Finley very proven and well rounded, Stewart who I expect to break out this year, and Roberts who does nothing but steal, steal, steal.

Pretty solid hitting, but don't expect to finish in the top three in average. SP is good, but your RP's leave a lot to desire. Only spot I see you really needing help. Mesa is the only sure thing and he usually puts a lot of guys on base.

Of course saves are going to be an issue but you have the firepower!! You should score middle to lower in the pack on steals but you can offset in the power categories - avg. will tough too. Bottom line - you have to love a pitching where Mark Prior is your #3 starter. Nice draft!
