I probably should have posted this earlier this week, but I guess I didn't want to jinx it. Oh well.
This guy (and his 22:14 BB:K ratio, yes, that's BB:K, not K:BB) has spent the past 8 games regressing to the mean after hitting .222 to start the year out. He now sports a .277 BA and has had multiple hits in 7 of his last 8 games. Yowza. If you'd like, you can go back further and see that for the month of May, he's hitting .308/.416/.462, and that was before he added three more hits, including a 2B and a HR tonight.
Now, I know, many will scoff at the idea of picking up a 1B with a mere 3 HRs on the season. But let's all try to remember that this guy was a top-rated prospect going in to 2006, hits in a hitter's park, and has already demonstrated significant improvement in his periferrals. At this point, I'd look at him as an add-and-wait in standardy 12-team Yahoo! formats, and as an immediate start in deeper/NL-only leagues.
And while I'm on the topic of former-top-prospect, possibly-light-hitting 1B from the West who started slow but are now making a surge, Casey Kotchman is probably also worth a look.

i thought Arizona was a hitters ballpark, isnt it?
i trade for Jackson early in the season because i thought he was going to improve on last season.. but i dropped him early May for Alex Gordon. i wish i still had Jackson, but seeing that i allready had 1B eligible guys (Fielder/Konerko/Cuddyer) and only Lugo as 3B eligible i needed Gordon more than i did Jackson.
it sucks that the guy who recently picked up Jackson was the guy who i traded with to get him.
I've been patiently waiting Jackson out with him on my bench. Same with Carlos Quentin, who is also turning it around. The D-Backs are what 7 games over.500? That's with noone on their team except Hudson and Byrnes really hitting well. Let's see what they can do now that Young, Jackson and Quentin are mashing.
I've been keeping my eye on Jackson myself. I'm beginning to get worried about having too many dbacks on my team though. I already own Byrnes, CBYoung, and Reynolds and I picked up Quentin in another league. Between Jackson and Quentin, who do you think is gonna be better from here on out? Who was projected higher in the preseason?
Quentin will produce better power numbers if he's 100% healthy. Jackson will walk alot more and hit for more double type power. I would expect about 12-15 HR's from Jackson from here on out and about 15-20 Hr's from quentin here on out. Look for a slightly higher BA and much higher OBP from Jackson though.
