Josh Fields To Shortstop?

Postby alchemy » Mon May 28, 2007 8:20 pm

Josh Fields has been playing shortstop the last few games for the Charlotte Knights. Could the Sox be thinking of moving him to shortstop and calling him up to replace Uribe in the lineup?

Seems like a logical play to try to get some production out of a dead spot in the lineup.

It would be a good idea. But I wouldnt call 5 HR and 20 RBI with well above average defense a "dead spot." Uribe is a good player. But, if Fields starts hitting like he did last year, we have to find a place for him. And SS is most logical.
Is pushing for President Obama to pass a law requiring all citizens to be Chicago White Sox fans and make October 1st "White Sox Day" where we all dress as our favorite player. It maybe socialist, but I don't care.

Well, after this year 2B, SS, & 3B might be open.

2B? I doubt it. The White Sox value Iguchi alot higher than do other teams. Got a point about 3rd though. Crede's play has been weak and he has back problems.

Crede may finally decide he needs back surgery. Fields would be his replacement. The way Crede has been looking lately... I wouldn't be surprised to see Fields called up soon.

Depends on the need for him. Fields' bat is finally starting to heat up after a weak start. The Sox will see how it plays out. My guess is, he will be a Sept. Callup this year, but wont begin to play regularly until 2008.

You really think it's going to take that long?
