Meche is an interesting one. I think all reasonable fantasy owners knew he wasn't going to keep his early season pace up, and that wins would be very unreliable as a KC pitcher even if he did keep the ERA down. His WHIP is now up to 1.34, creeping closer to his career average of 1.43.

The question is, is there any reason to think he'll be better than last year? Has he changed his approach or something? I'm thinking he still might be valuable to round out a fantasy SP staff, as long as expectations are tempered... but not if he's going to duplicate his numbers from last year from here on out.

I think he is worth having as a 4 or 5 starter, maybe a 3rd starter if you have Johan/Peavy as #1 I own him in one league and I'm quite happy with him

He's definitely an interesting case...

The stat that has surprised me so far is batters are hitting .276 off of him...that is actually better than they hit off him last year, when he posted a .256 BAA with a mid 4 ERA...

What this tells me is for his ERA to be sub 3.2 right now, hes getting lucky...because hitters are faring better off him now than they did a year ago, when he was a poor fantasy option..

The one thing that is encouraging is his walks are way down...which is why the WHIP is below his average despite giving up more hits and that could be part of his early success...

I really expect his ERA to balloon as the season goes on because there really is not enough change in his numbers to indicate that hes all of a sudden figured it out...
