Ryan Freel goes on the DL. Rotoworld says:

"Reds placed outfielder Ryan Freel on the 15-day disabled list with head and neck contusions.
Freel wasn't able to avoid the disabled list after all. He was due to be released from the hospital today, but the Reds apparently thought he'd miss at least 7-10 days. He'll be examined by a neck specialist on Wednesday. Norris Hopper and Dewayne Wise will fill in until Josh Hamilton returns."

In an age of underachieving, overpaid, egomaniacs...you can really respect Ryan Freel for the way he plays the game at 110% every single day.

You gotta love a ballplayer like Freel. Hope he gets healthy as soon as possible.

Not that this should come as any surprise but it's not being reported by the AP. According to Will Carroll at Baseball Prospectus Freel has a concussion in addition to the contusions. His return will basically be predicated on his recovery from the concussion.
