the thing about jack cust is that he was regarded as one of the best power hitting prospects for such a long time and whenever he even remotely got a chance, he stunk. shelton wasnt known for his power at all before he went nuts. he was actually a quality hitter before that for a good porton of the season. he hit hitting around .300 with like 20 hr in 400 abs with a .870 OPS. certainly not terrible. but shelton's stretch was one of the weirdest things ive seen in baseball.

Shelton is not a bad player and he's far from done, I mean look at Sean Casey!

Shelton is hitting .280 in AAA Toledo, don't think he's hitting for good power and I'm certain his k/bb is pretty bad, but .280 is pretty decent.

I thought JJ Hardy was a fairly highly regarded player last year. I seem to remember quite a few people predicting 20-25 homers in 2006.
