From Rotoworld:
Johnny Damon will miss a couple of games because of cramping in both calves and an irritated right Achilles.
Manager Joe Torre decided against stashing Damon on the 15-day disabled list Saturday. "We decided against it," Damon said. "I don't think it's anything that's going to be a long time that's going to keep me out." He could be out of the starting lineup for five days.
This is something to keep an eye on. It sounds like he barely avoided the DL... despite what Johnny says, I think this will continue to bother him. Either way, he's out for few days.

I hate this kinda crap that Damon pulls. He says he's gonna miss a start then he starts when I bench him. He says he'll play then he sits when I start him. I'm really conflicted and angry right now

yeah this is really getting old. I wish he'd just get himself healthy and then come back strong and put up decent numbers...what's odd is he is stealing bases at about a 25-30/yr clip...not bad for being hampered by leg injuries
in any case, he should just take the time off...looks like he'll have plenty of time to rest in october with the way the yankees are playing

The last two SBs were "freebes". Wakefield didn't even try.
He's now on my bench.
Damon played centerfield again last night, but his calf cramps continue to be in the back of his mind. Monday they bothered him in the last two innings, although he stayed in the game.
Like Giambi, Damon said he might be more apt to consider going on the DL if the team was doing better.
