Evan Longoria

Anyone have a timetable on when he might come up? Baseball America had him as their #7 rated prospect in baseball going into the season and estimated he'd make it into the big leagues sometime this season. He's availabe in the Yahoo player pool and I'm thinking about picking him up and stashing him away. I have the #7 WW priority and I'm going to use it for Ryan Braun... it'd be nice to have longoria in case I don't get Braun.

This season? I'm not quite sure I agree that he'll make it up this year...if the Drays were desperately needing someone at third I could totally see it. At this particular moment though they currently have several guys on the roster who could fill in at third while Iwamura is recovering...and Iwamura is signed for the next 3 years (so providing he comes back looking like he did pre-injury I think third is his for this season at the very least).

The last news I think I can recall hearing about Longoria was that he was going to learn other fielding positions...so with all of that, in addition to how long they've left guys in the minors to avoid arbitration clocks from starting...plus it's not exactly like they're in the WC hunt, I suspect Longoria won't be up before the 08 season...

That's just my opinion though...

Considering he's still raking in AA... any chance he's a Durham Bull sooner then later at the least? Also is he continuing to develop solely as a 3rd basemen with the plan to shift Iwamura to second still in place? Any developments, or even news there are no developments would be appreciated.

IMO if he gets called up this year it would be as a september callup, but even that isn't a given. Look to 2008 for significant playing time.
