Carpenter and Pedro

Postby jswede » Sat May 26, 2007 8:12 pm

Who has more value in 2007? Word is Pedro is already feeling stronger and believes he'll be a upper 90s fastball pitcher again. Both are scheduled to be out til Aug as far as I know. Anyone with more information or opinion?

I wouldn't bet on Carpenter coming back until the end of August at least.

IMO for 2007, I'd take Pedro.

He is such an arrogant @#*$ - it absolutely kills him to be out of the spotlight.

That notwithstanding, any more opinions on who is worth more in 2007?

Are you talking about Pedro and Clemens, because the same can be said for both of them (moreso for Roger "I Make Announcements at Yankee Stadium" Clemens). :-b

But I think its gonna be Pedro, just because I think he'll be back sooner and able to get back in the swing of things. Carp probably won't be back until August, and the most the Cards can hope for is to be hovering around .500 and go on a tear when he comes back.

The one thing that I would watch with Pedro is his velocity. Shoulder injuries tend to sap the speed and if he is pitching mid to upper 80s as opposed to low 90s, his numbers won't be nearly as good as they were in the past.
