Placido Polanco left the game...

Postby dweenmachine » Sat May 26, 2007 6:50 pm

From Rotoworld:
Placido Polanco left Saturday's game after six innings because of a muscle spasm in his oblique.
Curtis Granderson replaced him, pushing Omar Infante from center field to second base. Polanco is likely day-to-day.

No... last year was the shoulder injury on that spectacular catch he made halfway out into right field.

Still troubling for Polanco owners (not to mention Granderson, Sheffield, Magglio, and possibly Guillen owners), but Infante has been playing very well this season when he gets on the field, so the Tigers should be okay. (Assuming Leyland doesn't start Neifi Perez in front of Infante.)

Day to day is a lot better than the DL.

Another update from Rotoworld:
Manager Jim Leyland said he doubted Placido Polanco (oblique) would play Sunday night.
The injury is near Polanco's rib cage. "It's an abdominal muscle more than a rib-cage muscle," the second baseman said. He sounded optimistic that he'd be back in a few days.

It doesn't sound too serious... just bench him for a few days. ;-D
