i'm a sucker for a girl and a guitar so i highly recommend patty griffin "children running through" and "living with ghosts"..lucinda williams "west" is a must listen
I like some 90's Indie/Brit/Alternative music, I'm not sure if you are into to that at all but I can give you a bunch names/songs if you want.
As far as rock albums within the past couple years, ones that I have that are worth listening to:
already mentioned, RHCP's stadium arcadium
Wolfmother-self titled
Sam Roberts-We were born in a flame
Death Cab For Cutie-Plans
Raconteurs-Broken Boy Soldier
(sorry, i don't listen to that much brand new music either)
"Let's Keep The Friendly Confines Friendly" - Ernie Banks
checked out Modest Mouse today, I used to have them(just a couple singles) on the computer before it crashed.
Is it just me or besides like 4 tracks on that Good news for people who love bad news album, the vocal was really bothersome in the rest. But those 4 songs are good to amazing.
Are you interested in joining a 28 teams dynasty league? If so, PM me.

You should listen to the vocals on their older albums. Damn near incomprehensible. They kind of went back to that with their new "Ship Sank" album, and I find it mostly annoying. "Good News" was poppy, but enjoyable and "Float On" was the feel good hit of the summer when it was released.
If you're a battery, you're either working or you're dead....

i dig the vocals...Good News is an awesome album all the way through
I always try to reccomend Morphine's Cure For Pain to people, but it can be a bit mellow at times...top notch stuff though

I love the screechy vocals of his. It would get boring if every band had a "great" singer without an especially distinctive voice.
You'd like Pinback, PWF. Check them out. All of their albums are great.
