Strat-o-Matic baseball

A couple people from my summer job invited me into a strat-o-matic baseball league of sorts they're in online. I really like how you are able to set lineups and really control your team. The only drawback in this league is that it uses 1960's players, an area I (born in the late 80's) don't remember a ton from in terms of average players.

I was curious as to if there are any free strat-o-matic baseball leagues online, preferably using players from a more modern time period (of Hall of Famers). Does anyone here know of one, play in one, or know a league type that is very similar to that of strat-o-matic?

Wow that would be interesting. No clue on the leagues online. I would think that you might be able to figure out guys by looking at league leaders at Baseball-Reference.com or something like that for an era that you aren't familiar with but it would be hard to be competitive w/ the guys who'd been doing it for a while.

I kind of liked the card flipping action in Strat-o-matic...
