How would you rank this year's rookie pitchers

Also JOhn Danks. If he keeps this up, he is a lock for AL ROY.

hes had a chance to win every game. Im a cub fan and i have been very impressed. He could have a way better record.

Have you seen his run support? Pitiful.

Have you seen who he has pitched against? Johan/Sabathia, ect.

No wonder he doesn't win much. He hasn't given up more than 4 Runs in ANY game, and only done that twice. He goes 6 Innings every time except 2. QUALITY STARTS. That's what he does.

PLUS, if you have been actually watching his games(which I have), he has the composure of a seasoned veteran. His first major league game, in the 4th(maybe 3rd ) Inning, he gave up a 3-Run HR to Justin Morneau. That would rattle most pitchers, ecpecially rookies, but he came back out, went into the 6th and didn't allow another Run.

Check this:

-John Danks has a better Opp. BA than Schilling, Sabathia and Roy Halladay.(leads all rookies)

-6.80 K/9 IP, thats 18th in the AL. (leads all rookies)

-Believe it or not, his 47.2 IP leads all rookies.

-His 3.78 ERA leads all rookies.

-His 3 Wins, lead all rookies. (Actually, tied for first, with Dustin Moseley, who is a RP for the Angels.)

Something tells me, if he keeps this up, leading all rookies in EVERY category, he WILL win ROY.

How do you figure? Maybe Lincecum but its hard to say that about the others. Verlander is a top 10 pitcher in the making and has just as good a minor league track record as Bailey and Gallardo.

It seems that once prospects graduate everyone falls in love with the ceilings of the new top prospects and forgets about the celiengs current pitchers have. its only his second full year in the bigs. he isnt close to his ceiling yet. And to say a minor leaguer with no MLB success to have a higher ceiling than a guy who can thorw 100 with a hammer curve and won 17 games last year as rookie is a bit premature. We could dispute the definition of ceiling but Verlander is just as high IMO. the big K's are going to come

I don't think that at all. Lincecum yes. Bailey maybe. Gallardo no. Verlander is very, very good.

Oooo...good point. Really hard for me to consider Dice K a rookie though. Sucks that Japanese players are eligible for ROY.

As far as legit rookies go, Danks is the best. AL Rookies that is...

Great, Great point. This is very true. Lincecum MAY have a higher celing than Verlander, I think Bailey is close too. But I doubt Gallardo does. But 2 years ago, Verlander was in the same boat as these guys as a Top Prospect with huge upside.

But Verlander isn't even a rookie, so he shouldn't be in this discussion.

You didn't know that every 18 or 19 year old is automatically better than everyone else...?

This very thought is mostly why I don't frequent this forum as much as I used to. Its not only this forum but I see BP and BA doing the same sorts of things.....it gets a little silly!
