Giambi, DeSalvo, Chris Garcia and Ramiro Pena plus cash for Giambi's contract would get Helton and Fuentes to Ny.

Giambi is a black hole at 1B. I highly doubt the Rox would want him.

If Helton and\or Fuentes gets traded to the Yanks, the Rockies FO should be fired, becayse here's no way they'll get anything decent in return.

is that worth it for Fuentes?? If they throwe Helton into the deal as well, then I would think they would make the Yanks pay more, but I am sure getting rid of Helton's contract would have to be part of any deal involving Fuentes....

Playes I would want as a Rockies fan:

Cano (Not leaving NY: No backup)
Jeter (yea right)
Arod (Veto trades)
Posada(Yea right)
Matsui (Yea Right)
Mariano Rivera (yea right)
Phil Hughes (Yea right)

So that leaves the Rox's with a choice of:

Abreu (Stinky and old and no power and we have a RF)
Damon (broken down)
Giambi (League is ready to fine him and not as good Helton)
Mientwickazy (Can't hit)
Melky Cabreara (Pinch Hitter at best)
The Yankees Bullpen (The rockies already have a minor league pen)
Yankees SP (Cause the yankees don't need SP)

So basically we are hosed getting rid of our best pitcher and a veteran leader on the team

perhaps a third team could be brought in that has something more to colorado's liking. still not sure how the yanks would give up anything of value to anyone else....

why would this make sense?!? They aren't going to get much in return for Fuentes...

Are you serious? A dominant lefty reliever with proven closing experience won't get much in return? How long have you followed baseball?

Yeah, the Braves gave up Laroche for a similar type of pitcher in Gonzalez and a prospect. So you would think the return on a guy like Fuentes would be someone slightly < than Laroche (when his value was at its highest in the offseason).

No chance this happens. The Rockies aren't going to trade two of their best players, especially one like Helton who is having a comeback season and is the face of the franchise, for anything the Yankees would offer. I'm not sure why these Helton trade rumors are re-surfacing themselves now, but I see no possible way the Rockies will trade Todd this season. The offseason is another matter, but if Todd continues at this pace I doubt he'd be traded at all.

As for Fuentes, I agree with Yoda that it's very possible he'll be dealt at the trade deadline. He'll be a free agent after the season, and his market value should be quite high. With Manny Corpas performing very well in the setup role, there's already an in-house candidate to take over for Fuentes if he is dealt. Hopefully he isn't traded, but I think there's a possibility he will be.

I think the Rockies would do it if they could get Melky Cabrera and Jose Tabata. Don't know if the Yankees would give up Tabata for an aged player and a reliever though. They could probably get more for him.

Anyone know about a "no trade clause" in Heltons or Fuentes contracts?

Too lazy to look it up right now, sorry.

Ah, another reason the deal won't happen: Helton has a no trade clause and he has said he is prepared to veto all potential trades over the next five years.

Helton waived the clause when Colorado was talking to Boston so I'd say there's a good chance he does the same for New York.
