Your first fantasy baseball picks and transactions ... EVER

Postby NYCBuckeye » Thu May 24, 2007 3:13 pm

For those who have been playing fantasy baseball for a while, what are some of your earliest fantasy baseball draft picks and transactions?

I remember I started playing this game back in 1990 (or maybe 1991), and I took Darryl Strawberry in the first round. I also remember a huge blockbuster in which I dealt Kirby Puckett and scrubs for Cal Ripken and Jorge Bell, the year Ripken won the MVP. Ahhh, memories. Anyway, I would love to hear some similar blasts from the past ...

The Earliest fantasy baseball thing I can remember was when Albert Belle led my team to the championship on his corked bat. I was about 6 at the time.

I remember picking Carlos Beltran the year he broke out. He was my first ever sleeper pick that I figure out on my own. That wasn't my first year though, I can't remember that far back.

last year was my first year ever. I was in a 10 man league w/ friends from college. I only joined the league because they needed a 10th man. I had little knowledge of baseball before the draft. I even remember asking in the first round: "Is Johan worth a first round pick?"

Anyway...

Pick - I had pick 1.10 and 2.1, so my first two picks were:
1.10 - J. Santana
2.1 - Soriano

Trade - My first trade was:
I traded: C. Lee (of) and I got C.Crawford (of), R. Sexson (1b) and Rollins (SS)

I started last season. My first pick ever was Alex Rodriguez at 1.2. My first trade ever was Mark Tex, Mark Mulder, and Aubrey Huff for Carl Crawford/Scott Pods.

Not my first league, but in my first live draft one of my buddies, with pick #9, took Rivera in the first round.

We still kid him about that today in that league and in other sports leagues with some of the same guys. Usually someone shouts "Rivera" somewhere in the first round if people take a while to think about there pick.

This is my first year playing. With the first overall pick I took Pujols ;-D (though the way he's playing right now :~( )

First trade was Sheff/Gorzo for McCann/Valverde/Chuck James (who later was swapped for Delmon Young)

my first year playing fantasy bball was last year and in my first draft ever I ended up with the #1 overall pick... Went with Pujols over A-Rod, which last year was actually considered a shrewd move :-b

My first time playing something that was something similar to a points league was back during the strike season.

Maddux and his ridiculous ERA was my 1st pick. Also had Bagwell, Biggio, Ripken, Boggs. I killed that year.

My first roto team my 1st 3 picks were Bonds, Beltran and some guy named Pujols.
