Mauer update

Postby 405z06 » Thu May 24, 2007 9:22 am

May 24 - Roto: Mauer (quad) could now return to the lineup as early as Friday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. He's been running at almost full speed, has taken full batting practice and has caught several bullpen sessions.

Spin: Manager Ron Gardenhire said before Wednesday's game that he could return by Monday, but Mauer will see how he feels on Friday and perhaps play. It looks like he could come back at any point this weekend.

That sounds great to me. At least I'll know before Monday. I need his BA back in my lineup.

Ha ha! That's who I got too. Though not so fast...

From CBS Sportsline:

Twins C Joe Mauer isn't quite ready to return yet from a strained left quadriceps. He's been running lightly, taking batting practice and catching bullpen sessions. "We'll continue that process until he tells us he's ready to go," manager Ron Gardenhire said.

For the short term, Mike Napoli has been hot hot hot.

Bengie Molina was a FA when Mauer went down, and I grabbed him the day that he hit two HRs. He's been raking ever since. I find myself in the position of thinking that I'm going to hold onto him and put Mauer in at one of my three DH spots when he comes back. Never thought I'd do that, but Bengie's been on fire...
