Why Can't The D-Rays and Twins...

Postby abrunn11 » Thu May 24, 2007 8:44 am

trade with each other? The D-Rays have a system that is full of hitting prospects but have no pitching. The Twins have a system that is full of pitching propects but have no hitting. Even though kaz and Shields make a decent 1-2 punch, they need to add at least one more arm in the starting rotation and another in the bullpen. Twins have a nice middle of the order with Mauer, Cuddyer, Morneau and Hunter, but desperately need a third basemen and center fielder (assuming Hunter is gone after this year). The way I see it, the D-Rays need to send Baldelli and Brignac to the Twins for Perkins and Garza. This would fill both teams needs and drastically improve both teams. The D-Rays would still have a real nice line-up and the Twins would still have a nice pitching staff with Liriano, Bonser, Slowey, Baker and whom ever else they want to throw in there. With Johan being gome after this year, they would still have a very good, young rotation.

The Rays are not going to be trading with many people anytime soon. We have stud young pitchers in the minors as well in Niemann, Talbot, Sonnastine, Davis, McGee, Helickson, Mason etc. and will most likely be drafting Price in the draft this year. Brignac is a SS with 30 home run power and will not be going anywhere anytime soon as he is apart of our future. The Rays are not playing for now, they are playing as i see it for a decent finsih next year and have a great team in 09. It was a rebuilding project and right now they are doing a pretty good job.

I think the D'Rays make it a point not to trade with anyone.

Haven't the D-Rays been playing for "two years from now" since their franchise birth? :-?

No pitching? ha! They are one of the most pitching loaded minor league systems around, and probably have more than the Twins. Baseball America recognized this fact by putting 3 D-Ray pitchers in the Top 100 Prospects in Jeff Niemann(35), Jacob McGee(37) and Wade Davis(97). I didn't even get to guys like Talbot. So Kaz and Shields already there, and Vandy prospect David Price on the way, how much more pitching could you need??
Is pushing for President Obama to pass a law requiring all citizens to be Chicago White Sox fans and make October 1st "White Sox Day" where we all dress as our favorite player. It maybe socialist, but I don't care.

Sorry, the Devil Rays are a horribly ran organization in terms of not trading from strengths to address weaknesses. What they should do, is not trade their young offensive core for starters but trade guys like Cantu, Pena, and Gomes for some future bullpen help.
