Re: Pitching Vs. Hitting

Postby DouBLe dOWnS » Mon Jan 26, 2004 2:37 pm

Since this isnt a Roto league, I feel hitting is more important. When your hitter goes out there everyday, he has a chance to score some points.

But on the other hand, your league is set up so pitchers could earn many more points than the hitters per game. So, if your pitching is not up to par you could be falling behing big time. were as if your hitters slack a little you will only lose a little ground.

True true

Postby mikedeatworld » Mon Jan 26, 2004 4:06 pm

Our league saw this the first year.

Modesto drafted a great core of pitchers and just domintated his division.

I had average pitching and great hitting and still did well.

It can go either way if you have really good hitting combined average pitching ie mark redman, wade miller, you will do okay in this league.

Do you think I should draft a pitcher? Thinking around an 11th-12th rounder who would you think would be left and who would you draft?

I like Odalis Perez in that area. Solid numbers, but maybe low on wins.

i can see why modesto would have done well with that pitching core

swarmee, im not sure if i would agree about springfields pitching being poor. He has the two previous AL CY winners in Zito and Halladay. if he keeps those two with either Washburn or Clement he should be ok. then he can have Bonds Anderson Giles in OF. Rodriguez Catching. Thome at 1st. Lowell at 3rd. Guzman at SS. he would need to draft a 2b and some closers.

personally i like this teams chances along with Modesto. They both look solid.

I was just re reading this. Yeah but what if you pitcher blows that one or two games they pitch? Who are you counting on then to go out the next day and score points? Your hitting...
