Looks like Henry Owens has lost the closers job...

From rotoworld

Kevin Gregg will remain the Marlins' closer even after Henry Owens returns from the disabled list.

''Kevin Gregg has been good, and we've got to give him the opportunity to keep doing it,'' manager Fredi Gonzalez said. Gregg has allowed just one run in his past 12 outings and he notched his third save of the season Sunday.

Gregg has pitched great, and Owens was never Guarenteed the closer job when he got off the DL.Remeber Florida wanted Julio to work his way back to being the closer. Now that Julio got the boot,Florida has found there new closer in Gregg.

It's Greggs job to lose now ;-D .Owens will still be next in line for saves if Gregg starts to pitch poorly(which I dought) or gets injured.

Make that save #4 last night. ;-D :-) ;-D :-)

Owen's was pretty dominate before the trip to the dl....he deserves the job back imho. Is there any job security anymore?

He didn't give up a run in his last seven appearances, racking up three saves and two wins. The only blown save came on unearned runs. His ERA is under 2.00.

The definition of dominant is obviously subjective, but Henry Owens was pitching very well before he went on the DL.

Owens definitely was pitching well but he wasnt THE Closer. At no time did Freddie say he was the guy, just that he was getting a shot basically. They like Gregg now because he is pitching just as well as Owens was and HAS EXPERIENCE AND GOOD DEMEANOR...those last two points being key obviously. They wanted to find someone with experience...which makes sense imo. You could find a Papelbon in Owens but how often does that happen and why not give a guy (Gregg) who has done pretty well and learned from the some of the best the chance to keep the job.

Oh and yes I am a Gregg owner!!...and Fish fan!
