i dont see drayton moore giving up on pena so quickly after obviously making it a priority to get him to the royals, therefore i dont see the royals going after hernandez.

And though the talent D deerayfan072 got back in return, my vote is for him due to LordRevolution's only trade is near impossible. Yes, Felix Pie would be great for the Royals right now, but Dotel and Riske is like adding injury to insult to the Cubs bullpen. Now they have MORE average to below average relivers to blow games in the 9th. They need a Solid closer who can come in and shut down games...not Riske and Dotel.
Dotel's got experience as a closer, and Riske is a well travelled established arm. Getting both for nearly free, since KC will eat the 5mil of Dotel, and Pie who they wont be playing this year, goes right along with the cub's "win now" type spending.

No way would the Cubs give up Pie for a crappy MR.

Did you actually look at what dotel's done while healthy?
Last healthy season in Oak: 22 saves, 1.16 WHIP, 72k in 50.2 innings, crap 4.09 ERA, 6 wins.
Granted it was three years ago, but the cubs are in dire straits.
Riske's another guy who's been injured, and also has a very nice line for his last full season, not to meantion a workable line from last season.
Are either studs? No. Do they fill a need for the win now cubs? Yes. In Pie playing this year? Not unless the cubs have no chance of winning.
Tough but not tough, Lordrevolution's idea doesn't make any sense whatsoever for the Cubs, why trade away what many claim to be a future all star OF in Pie, for some sub standard RP's?
Now while Deerayfan's idea seems alot more logical it also is a bit of a reach. HOWEVER the second part with the trade to the Mets makes alot of sense for both sides. That and the move to call up Butler kinda locks him in here.
So my vote is for deerayfan!
“Never argue with a idiot, because first they will bring you down to their level. Then beat you with experience.”
No they dont. The last time Dotel had over 20 appearances was 2004, with a 3.69 ERA. Thats not good for a closer at all. Riske had a 3.89 ERA last year.
Cubs Bullpen Last year:
Bobby Howry- 3.17 ERA
Ryan Dempster- 4.80 ERA
David Aardsma- 4.08
Mike Wuertz- 2.66
Scott Eyre- 3.38
So what do Dotel and Riske give the Cubs? More of what they already have.
Is pushing for President Obama to pass a law requiring all citizens to be Chicago White Sox fans and make October 1st "White Sox Day" where we all dress as our favorite player. It maybe socialist, but I don't care.
