Now that he has a HR, I'll have to hold onto him for another month of slumping.

When the game ended, he looked and acted the same as always. He was still cool. And when he was asked whether he had ever lost faith in himself or whether he had ever gotten down or whether he had ever had doubts, he shrugged.
“Naw,” he said.
“I’m just taking it at-bat to at-bat,” he said, that ballplayer’s cliché. Gordon said he wasn’t thinking about numbers. He wasn’t thinking about averages. He didn’t even know his average. He was just playing ball.
“Sure, it does feel good to get over .200,” he said.
Alex Gordon is cool, no doubt. But you’ll notice he did know that his average had gone over .200. He was pretty happy about it too. But you knew that already. Come on. Nobody’s that cool.

Im starting to think that Alex Gordon has more value as a 3b now than Mark Teahan. Any thoughts?

You read my mind. I've been holding onto Teahen so far waiting for that same "magic" that he had last year in the 2nd half (a.k.a. a 5 tool player)...he's hitting for a solid AVG and has a handful of SB, but the rest of the #'s aren't there, but what can you expect with the KC offense. So, I'd like to hear what my fellow cafers think. If anything, I'd give the nod to Teahen still since he bats 3rd in the lineup.

Teahan's results have been better, but Gordon's swing makes it nearly impossible for him to fail, IMO.
It's quick to the zone, it stays in the hitting zone forever and he's a strong kid. That allows him to mishit it a little and still drive it. His swing is good enough that he can foul off tough pitches as long as he recognizes them. It's only when he gets fooled or caught guessing that he swings through one. As he sees more ML pitches, he'll get better at picking up the spin and get fooled less.
He didn't get out of the gates as quickly as his #s suggested he would, but I'm more confident in his future than I've ever been now that I've been able to see him play about 10 times. I thought the 40 HR projections were absurd....not anymore. He'll get there soon.

watching him tonight he really looks relaxed at the plate and has a good eye....better than I thought. He was staying off bad pitches and locked in good ones.
he has arrived. Welcome Mr. Gordon....time to sit back reep the benefits, people.
Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime.
