Getting hits or not he's making MUCH better contact and he's looking like he actually has a clue at the plate. I couldn't say that the first month of the season.....he was completely lost early on!
A side note, he is quite a bit faster than I figured him to be as well. I didn't think he would be anything more than an 8-10 SB a year type guy but I could see him stealing 15-18 on a consistant basis once he figures out how to get on base more!
In redrafts I think it's plenty of time to be done with him. If you have bench space that's fine but I think 150 AB is enough for me. I dropped him.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
Yeah tough call on whether or not to drop him in a redraft. I probably would because i dont like wasting a bench spot on a guy thats not producing. However, there is probably someone in your league willing to take a chance on him. At best you could drop him and hope he clears waivers so that you can grab him when/if he gets hot. I personally think he will turn it on sooner or later, but i think a good comparison would be markakis last year. Not in terms or potential/player type but in terms of the year they will have. Markakis had never played above AA ball, same with Gordon. I can see Gordon have a solid Aug/September, but I definately wouldn't be patient enough to hold on to him for that long...
Just to specify, the league where I dropped him has no bench. I probably should have dropped him earlier but I set 150 AB as my guideline and stuck to it. If I had a bench I would have fought harder to keep him because it wouldn't surprise me if he had a great 2nd half but I just couldn't take the chance.

Yeah, I've got 5 bench spots in a 12 team, 22 man roster league, so I'm waiting it out. He also hasn't been dropped in my other 2 leagues (but they also have 5 bench and are a little deeper).
im in a deep league with deep benches but Gordon was still dropped weeks ago. im not desperate for 3B, but i only have Lugo and recently picked up Encarnacion and who knows how often hes going to play once Hamilton returns ..so if Gordon is expected to take off now and produce id like to pick him up before someone else does.
