OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA (TICKER) -- The Oakland Athletics on Tuesday placed righthander Justin Duchscherer on the 15-day disabled list with a right hip strain.

The move, retroactive to May 15, leaves the A's with nine players on the DL.

Oakland's primary set-up man, Duchscherer was 3-3 with a 4.96 ERA in 17 appearances this season. The 29-year-old has been on the DL once before in his career, from May 7 to June 23 of last season with right elbow tendinitis.

Duchscherer joins fellow A's pitchers Huston Street (right ulnar nerve irritation), Rich Harden (right shoulder strain) and Esteban Loaiza (muscle spasms) on the DL.

or keep Duch and Street and hope one of them retains the job when they come back?? ..im thinking this would be the wisest thing to do because one of them will probably keep the job long term if they make it back healthy ...im freakin out over here ...do you think i should stand pat?

the other guys aren't very good man ...I think im gonna keep Street and Duch and pray for the best and that one of these 2 guys return sooner than later. I can't find any real info anywhere on who will take over or how serious both injuries are. What are you guys doing? ..are you picking up embree or calero?

CBC. I would just stay far, far away from this situation, but if I had to choose, I'd take Calero.
