i just picked up Encarnacion today after reading that he was being called back up. i need some HR/RBI production from 3B. i only had Lugo, and there wasnt much left as free agents. i even picked up Reynolds yesturday as a free agent, but now hopefully Encarnacion can stick and be the 3B starter the rest of the season.
IF he starts out the rest of the season i think he should be able to get 20/80 attleast.
maybe if hes hot over the next 2 weeks the Reds can trade him somewhere where he can get more production.

With Hamilton out he has no choice but to start him now regardless if he's in the doghouse or not

That would be a good deal for both teams.

I would like to see that.

He'd be benched quickly for his poor defense if he played for the Twins. They are not the type of team to play a defensive liability full time.

Excellent point, The twins should trade one or some of there pitching prospects for some kind of stick. They got plenty.

eddy has all the tools. he just doesn't use them all the time. sometimes, he goes to reach for one of 'em, and he just sort of stands there like, "hey, where'd i PUT that thing?" i'm kind of joking. but i'm kind of serious. it's a weird thing to watch.

he's quick as a cat. he can get to just about any ball hit on a line within 12 feet of him. what he does with it once he fields it, well...it's not like he can't make a strong throw to first (he has a cannon). he just, well, loses that tool.

same goes at the plate. sometimes he shows some plate discipline, but man, when they taunt him with the high heat, he just melts. he loves that pitch and will swing for no good reason. and he knows it. the look on his face after one of those ridiculous swings is the same: "where'd i PUT that thing?"

i can't help but believe some day he'll put it together in a big, big way. he oozes talent. when that meets maturity (vis a vis, brandon phillips), look out.

yeah, yes...

Just seems like a perfect combination to me. The GMs know each other (think Cinnys worked under Ryan) and if we can give up a starting pitcher to get a real power hitting (or atleast hitting 3B) it would make sense to make Punto a utility guy.

<- called it with this guy.

His defensive skills, or lack there of, are well documented so I wont get into that.

Offensively he's got a plethera of problems, including:
1) chases way too many balls out of the strike zone
2) has warning track power, but still swings for the fences...a lot
3) has serious confidence issues, leading to streakiness

I think he's MLB caliber, but not a whole lot better.
