I am in an auction league, 12 team keeper league.
Would you dump Hart @$5 (had high hopes for him) and pick up Gwynn Jr?
Thanks
Figuring out the Brewers OF platoon is difficult. Currently it's combination of Jenkins, Mench, Hall, Gross, Hart, and Gwynn. Hall is about the only one who has played nearly every day. Mench and Jenkins tend to platoon based on the lefty/righty matchup. Lately the 3rd spot has been occupied by Gwynn.
Tough to stay if it's going to stay that way. Gross is usually used as a pinch hitter, and may start once a week or so. Hart seems to have fallen out of favor for the time being. Some speculate that manager Ned Yost doesn't like him much. Gwynn is hot, so he's playing a lot lately.
I guess the best advice is to keep an eye on the situation. A couple things to consider beyond playing time:
1. Gwynn has almost no power, but good speed. If he played everyday he'd be a good bet for 30 SBs. So if your need is SBs, he'd be a good option. He seems to have come into his own as far as batting average goes, too. Probably finish is the .280-.300 range.
2. Hart has a little more power and good speed, but he's going to be hitting much lower in the batting order. Likely around 7th. Gwynn will bat in the one or 2 hole when he plays.
I guess that's a long winded "I don't know".
