What's the word on Kendrick?

Postby rails80 » Mon May 21, 2007 7:54 am

Is he coming back tomorrow?

If so, I want to make some moves today to fill my DL spots and get ready to have Kendrick take over for Vidro. :-°

I think he is about 2 weeks away if everything goes well.

He is not two weeks away. He is already playing in a rehab assignment. He is 5-16 though. Scosia said his timing is off, so once he gets it back I'm guessing that he will be back in the lineup.

Don't know where people are getting information that he is 2 weeks away. From what I've read, he should return sometime during the 6 game road trip this week. My guess is that if he doesn't make it to Detroit by Wednesday, they probably will hold off and bring him up Friday for the opener in New York (rather than flying him to Detroit for 1 game).

Yahoo wrote:May 20 Kendrick homered and drove in four runs for Triple-A Salt Lake in a 12-5 win at Fresno on Friday. Kendrick is working to develop strength and confidence in his left hand, weakened by a broken bone in the middle finger when he was hit by a pitch from Oakland's Chad Gaudin on April 17.

Advice: Manager Mike Scioscia is hopeful Kendrick -- hitting .327 and playing excellent defense when he was injured -- will be back with the Angels on a road trip that opens on Tuesday in Detroit. Kendrick is expected to play through the weekend and then be evaluated.

Rotoworld wrote:According to the Los Angeles Times, Howie Kendrick (finger) will remain at Triple-A until at least Wednesday.
Kendrick, who's been out since April 18, has gone 4-for-15 with a homer during the first four games of his minor league rehab assignment. "Physically, he's fine, his bat speed is there," manager Mike Scioscia said. "But his timing is not there at the plate."

CBSSportsline wrote:Manager Mike Scioscia said 2B Howie Kendrick, who hasn't played since April 17 because of a fractured middle finger on his left hand, should be ready to return sometime this week. Kendrick has been on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake. "His bat speed's there, his timing isn't quite yet," Scioscia said. "We want to get him a few more at-bats."

You make it sound like a bad thing... that puts him at a BA of .313

I can deal with that. The sooner the better but I'd rather see him healthy and producing in my line-ups.

He started out 1-for-7 and another HBP. He's since gone 3-for-8, with 1 HR and 4 RBI's. Maybe it's time to trade him? Ha!

Hit another one today... As of right now he is hitting .333 with 3 HRs and 10RBIs in 7 games at Salt Lake and also stole a base today. Rotoworld suggests he could be active for the Angels for tomorrow's game and with this performance he definitely should
