Sabathia or Sheets???

Postby JamesBond007 » Tue Feb 25, 2003 4:56 pm

In my keeper league, i just traded Sabathia for Ben Sheets. what do you think? My 4 SP that i will be keeping are Zito,Beckett,Padilla,Sheets. 16 team league with 12 keepers so the talent is spread thin.

I like Sheets better than Sabathia personally. He could have had more wins last year had the Brewers not been so terrible. He was an All Star in 2001, and I think he has ace potential. His stuff is nasty, and 200 K's in the future are a possibilty.

The reason I'm down on Sabathia is his conditioning. And his team sucks also.

I think you've got a nice young staff to build on (although I look for Padilla to regress a little this year).

I agree. i like sheets better too becasue in my opinion they are basically the same in value but sabathia is a much higher injury risk. i just dont see him ever being in the kind of shape that would allow him to be an ace. sheets is only gonna get better and hopefully he'll find his way to another team in the near future.

BTW, i disagree with you about Padilla. i actually think he'll be better this year. the phills are much improved offensively which could lead to a high win total. plus i think i read somewhere that he threw like 300+ innings total last year so its no wonder he wore down in the second half. since the phillies didnt know what they had, i guess he was allowed to throw that many. i assume he has rested a little more this offseason and should be ready for a good season.

Do you like to believe someone to said that Padilla pitched 300+ innings last year? :-o

What do you mean by that? if youre asking if i believe it, then yes i do. he threw 206 for the phillies. is it that farfetched that he threw 94 innings during winter ball?

if youre asking , do i like it? the nno i dont like the fact that he could have damaged his arm but he isnt the first person to log a lot of innings in a year.

I'm not sure if your questioning the fact that padilla threw over 300 innings last year, but it is a fact that he did. He pitched in winter league ball, spring training, and then threw over 200 for the Phils. Same with Rodrigo Lopez.
