innings abuse in h2h?

Postby thegilby » Sun May 20, 2007 4:53 pm

Hi all,
recently, a manager has been picking up a lot of spot starters in our league.

Our pitching categories are: WHIP, IP, K, W, SV, and ERA.

He has picked up enough so that his week IP total was 98 and 1/3 innings.

Should there be a max innings cap?

I prefer no Max innings. His WHIP, ERA, and Saves will suffer because of this. And if all of his starters are the top pitchers in the game, hes just making good moves.

The thing is if there is no max IP cap, wouldn't you be assured to win 3 categories each week (if you pick up enough starters)?

I've never understood the purpose of IP as a category...

In any case, I don't think an IP limit is the way to go. I think the better option may be a limit on number of transactions.

My H2h league uses the same cats, but we have max starts not max IP. That way, better pitchers who tend to go deeper in games are more valuable.
