Out of curiosity, is there a point when threads will actually get deleted?

Yes, posts and/or entire threads can be deleted. Usually when language gets out of hand or if the thread is completely inappropriate.

As to all the old threads, I haven't heard of any plans of deleting them. They serve as good reference tools. :-)
