Good read. I like to see closer stability. Personally I thought Speier had the job in Toronto, but I guess not. Either way, I love how our bullpen situation is looking.

I think Joe Nathan will be the sleeper closer of the year.

Riske and Marte are also 2 of my favourites. If either of them get the chance they'll be 2nd tier closers, behind Smoltz, Gagne, and Wagner.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like Marte will get the chance, even with Flash Gordon gone. Koch and Wickman aren't worthy of being closers for their teams....I wish money weren't a factor <img src=/forums/images/smiles/kiss.gif> Things would be much easier to predict.

Nen obviouslly, he hasn't even pitched yet. I guess somebody could say he is on pace for spring training and I could easily point out that he was last year also and didn't quite make it. But I am not going near either one. There is a reason Kevin Towers had a priority of signing Beck and that Japanese closer this offseason ... IMHO.

I love patting myself on the back ... Hopefully there is a ton of this "Self Patting" in '04 ..eh guys ?

Yeah, and we snagged your boy Villafuerte, too. Gotta bulk up the AAA team with these outcasts for when we start plucking all of our youngsters and putting them on the big stage. B-)
