This is his second full year in the league... I don't understand how people can make generalizations about him being this and that. From the guy who said he "never" hit .300, are you basing this off his single full year in the majors where he hit .275, or his nearly 1400 minor league abs where he hit in fact .300 exactly. Hes absolutely on fire right now,(yahoo rank #26) and the number 4th ranked 1b behind morneau, fielder, and ortiz(who doesn't have 1b eligibility in some leagues). Is he going to finish .340 30 hrs 100 rbi and 100 runs.. definitely not. But could he conceivably finish above .300 with 20ish hrs, 100-110 runs, and 80-90 rbis... absolutely, which is hardly a statline to scoff at, or a "backups" performance.
BP had his weighted mean at 90runs, 18hrs, 78rbi, 4sb, .376obp, .456slg. Is he a great "power hitting" 1b... of course not, but he produces consistently and will continue to in boston's dynamite lineup.
Just remember this is his second full year in the majors, and while hes probably not going to hit 30hrs, his first full year relatively promising, and he certainly seems to be improving on that.
