Your best pitching staff ever

Postby Chadgo5 » Fri May 18, 2007 11:03 am

I'll probably jinxing myself but I've assembled the best pitching staff I've ever had in our 14 year old keeper league. (roto, 6x6, 13 teams)

Peavy
Oswalt
Hamels
Smoltz
Maine

Bench: Byrd, Garland, Chuck James, Davies (and I even have Pedro stashed on my bench for later in the year).

Now I just have to deal one of them for some sticks...because my bats stink so far.

What has been your best staff?

my current one has potential

Dice-K
Lincecum
Hamels
Ian Snell
Bedard
Arroyo
Randy Johnson
AJ Burnett

DL-Schmidt

Best part is, I didn't use a lot of high-rounders

(DiceK was highest at 62nd overall)

That is a good staff considering where you drafted them. The way the winds blow in our league, pitchers are drafted (or kept) much earlier than most leagues. I like Snell a lot.

I really like my staff this year:

Johan
Webb
Sheets
Smoltz
CZam
Gorzelanny

My best staff however, was in my first year (2003)

Prior 211IP 245K 2.43ERA 1.10WHIP
Johan 158IP 169K 3.07ERA 1.09WHIP
Oswalt 127IP 108K 2.97ERA 1.14WHIP
Webb 180IP 172K 2.84ERA 1.15WHIP
Dontrelle 160IP 142K 3.30ERA 1.28WHIP

It seemed like every guy I grabbed blew up. I thought fantasy baseball was easy, but it turned out I was just really lucky that year !+)

In 2005 in my big money league I ended the season with:
SP:
Peavy
Carpenter
Halladay
Smoltz
Cain

RP:
Gagne (DL)
Nathan
Rivera
Isringhausen
Jenks
Mike Gonzalez
Fernando Rodney
Jorge Sosa
Aaron Heilman
Gary Majewski

My hitters were decent, but I absolutely owned all pitching stats almost every single week throughout the year.
