The day after Kirk Saarloos failed to retire any of the seven batters he faced in Cincinnati's 14-10 loss to Pittsburgh, the Reds optioned the right-hander to Triple-A Louisville and recalled left-hander Bobby Livingston. Livingston is making his second appearance with Cincinnati. "He'll pitch in the bullpen right now, give us some length out there" manager Jerry Narron said. Now the Reds' No. 5 spot is up for grabs, which could mean an arrival of Homer Bailey (4-1, 1.99 ERA) the next time that turn comes up Friday, June 1.

FANTASY ANALYSIS
Saarloos is nothing more than a Triple-A middle reliever at this point, while at least Livingston is a big league one -- with the potential to start. Bailey pitches Monday night for Triple-A Louisville and won't be the call up if he goes more than four innings, we say.
