should i have vetoed this?

so im the commish in a league and i was currently dealing with a guy, trade was

team A(me): gets carlos delgado
team b: gets furcal and hunter pence

now all trades in our league have a mandatory 2 day waiting period in the accepted state, before i let them go through. cause the commish has to pass off on all trades.

after day one i decieded that i it was good for me. so i vetoed it.

now the other guy is complaining that i proposed it and i shouldnt have vetoed it.

but it was still within my two day waiting period, if i had accepted it and the trade had gone through i could understand where hes coming from. but that wasn't the case

was i right or wrong?

wait...you vetoed a trade you were in? i think thats always a no. you need some sort of league vote system for trades you're involved in.

I think Yahoo should take away the ability for owners to veto their own trades. I also think this was a bad veto, though I think you started to realize that maybe you were getting the shorter end of the stick in this deal. You and the owner agreed to the trade and the 2 day wait period is for other owners to protest, not for you to break your commitment to the owner you're trading with.

I think he meant that he decided the trade WASN'T good for him, so he decided to veto it.

IMO, that's a HUGE mistake buddy. No one else in the league has the ability to accept a trade, decide it's not favourable to them a day later, and cancel the trade... so why should you have that power? As commish you have the power to veto trades because they're unfair, not because they don't benefit you (especially when you're involved in the deal).

Bad veto, you shouldn't have done that.

but everyone in the league has the right to back out of the trade, within the two days, isn't that a right we all reserve? i mean yes i was part of it, but if someone else was in a trade and they decieded to back out it would be ok, i mean i was simply doing the same thing

Umm, no, and it should be patently obvious to you that what you have said once again makes no sense, but in case it isn't, I'll explain it to you.

The waiting period is there so other owners can complain about trades IN WHICH THEY ARE NOT INVOLVED.

It is not there so a team can chicken out of their own deal.

Have you been vetoing every trade that people ask you to veto when their own team is involved? That would be your first mistake right there.

Once a deal is done, it is binding, unless PEOPLE WHO AREN'T INVOLVED IN THE DEAL protest.

In all cases, it should be a vote among non-participants. Perhaps you are a beginner and didn't know this, but you have completely misinterpreted what the veto function is all about.

Second thoughts are allowed... before you decide to accept the deal. After you hit that accept button it's too late. What you did just isn't fair to the other owner who was in the deal with you.
