ANYONE UP ON TV REPAIRS??

I have a 35" Sony tube TV that I don't want to get rid of. The reasons are mainly because it's in my bedroom, it weighs a ton so I don't want to get rid of it, and I don't feel like buying another 1 right now. That said, I just moved and it has been acting up ever since. The color is a little off as I sometimes see a green haze around people on the screen. That's the small issue. The main issue is that, when I turn it on, it takes forever to get going and, when it finally "turns on", the screen blinks on and off for a few minutes before it finally is completely on. I don't mean that it actually turns off. It's just that the screen comes on and goes blank for another few minutes before it is completely on. Anyone have any idea what it might be and how much $$ it might cost me??

Did you try smacking it in the upper side corners?

Does the sound stay on, or does that blink off too?

Have you tried opening it up from the back and totally cleaning it out? You'd be amazed how nasty it gets in there after awhile.

The sound is constant. I haven't cleaned it out.

Cleaning it out is the first thing I'd try. I gave away a nice 32 incher once. Took awhile for it to "warm up" and for the picture to get crystal clear. A friend of mine (the guy I gave it to) took the back off, cleaned it all out (dust rags and spray air) and the sucker worked good as new.
