To punish some guy, or even talk about punishing some guy for lyrics in a song that are as commonly used as "cat" and "dog", is insane. Why are baseball players held to some higher moral standard than all the other sports? this is just another example of the hypocrisy.
Lastings did nothing wrong. Nothing.
As for him being a sexual deviant, if I remember correctly he was in high school and slept wit a 14 or 15 year old girl, and got busted for it. If that makes you a sexual deviant, then half this country is a sexual deviant.
was it a non issue when artest and iverson both tried to do it?
I don't remember any controversy, was there any? I do remember Artest asking for some time off during the season to promote his album, and I thought that was pretty stupid on his behalf. But honestly, was there a big to-do with the team thinking about punishment for them?
there was a HUGE controversy here in philly when iverson released the song 40 bars. it was during the summer when basketball wasnt in season so the team didnt really comment too much on it but it was pretty publicized.

So it was more the local Media.
I guess this probably would be too if he played anywhere but New York. I am pretty sure the team itself can't do anything, but I think it is pretty stupid if they try to.
