A so-so team

Postby MikeeDee » Mon Jan 19, 2004 9:24 pm

I find that people ususally only post their teams here when they've drafted a team full of studs. Well, that wouldn't be me, not this time. I just finished a 29 round, 16 team keeper draft (yes, preliminary results have been posted and laughed at :-) ). It's 5x5 Roto

Here's the team:

C. J. Mauer/T. Hall
1B R. Klesko
2B M. Loretta
SS. A-rod
3B H. Blalock
OF B. Giles
OF H. Matsui
OF T. Nixon
OF R. Sanders
OF B. WilkersonK. Mench
CI F. Thomas/E. Alfonzo
MI F. Vina / R. Belliard
UT F. Catalanotto

Pitchers:
M. Mussina
J. Smoltz
J. Contreras
K. Wells
W. Alvarez/M. Riley
J. Affeldt
F. Rodrigues (the Angelic version)
B. Donnely/ C. Leskanic
G. Mota / J. Jimenez

For a 16-team keeper, I actually think you came out pretty well. Obviously you had the #1 choice and therefore had to pick Mussina at the end of the second round. I think you'll finish in the top 5, personally.

For a 16 team league I would not laugh at all. You are very solid in alot of posistions. 1 thing you might consider if you wish is to put A-Rod on the block and see what kind of offers you get. You might get someone willing to give up a couple of studs that could help you fill the places you are weak.

Not too bad. I've seen teams look a lot worse than that.

Biggest tip I can give you is to keep a sharp eye on the free agent pool and waiver wire. Picking up guys who slip by or unnoticed is tough in a 16 team league, but it can make the difference.
