Judge Peter Openshaw broke into the questioning of a witness about a Web forum used by alleged Islamist radicals.
"The trouble is I don't understand the language. I don't really understand what a Web site is," he told a London court during the trial of three men charged under anti-terrorism laws.
Prosecutor Mark Ellison briefly set aside his questioning to explain the terms "Web site" and "forum." An exchange followed in which the 59-year-old judge acknowledged: "I haven't quite grasped the concepts."
Uh..... wow. I thought everyone knew what the Internet was these days.
That's actually pretty amazing that he could NOT know. And it's not like the guy is all that old - 59 is youthful enough still to have a clue about the Internet.
It's one thing to know little about it... it's another thing to not have a clue as to what the internet is. There are a lot of 59 year olds that use the internet- he should at least pull his head out of his arse and check out what's going on in the world. Nobody cares if he uses it or not but I think it's weird that he just has no clue about it.
"Oh, that Lankford and McGee, the trio of 'em. They're a one-man wrecking crew."
Who was that wacky old, OLD U.S. Senator who took the Senate floor and described the "Internet" as a "series of tubes".... he had NO IDEA what the Internet was, and was totally B.S.ing his way through whatever point he was making... I think it was supposed to be about Net Neutrality.....
yeah he probably didnt understand the difference between forum/blog or something. theres NO way he doesnt know what a website is. if he doesnt, he needs to be removed from his position.

His name is Ted Stevens, and he's arguing AGAINST Net Neutrality (I think). It's hysterical... and the "tubes" comment is near the end of the clip.
I will never grow tired of watching that "series of tubes" speech. The worst part is that he was the Chair of the committee on Internet Commerce (or something similar, I don't remember exaxtly what it was) when that took place.
although, if he is enough of a geezer, computers WERE series of tubes...
I am also inclined to think that perhaps the judge was being devil's advocate and attempting to get a legal definition as to what the solicitors were talking about since all he does on the internet is review the updates to the FBC hottest babe thread....
