Some might say that he is having a strong contract year.
"I do not think baseball of today is any better than it was 30 years ago... I still think Radbourne is the greatest of the pitchers." John Sullivan 1914-Old athletes never change.
People say he is a fast starter, but its much more then that right now.
He is making contact over 92 % of the time.
He is walking 11 % of the time.
Right now he is higher then a pure 300 hitter, and there is nothing lucky about what hes doing.
In that Lineup even with a slight slump he still is on track to well within the top 10 3rd basemen in baseball(He was 7--11 depending on position eligibility of other players last year after a slower start then this year).
Right now hes top 4 ahead of Miggy Cabrera, and Aram. I would say hes pretty good lol.
Ohh, and the offsetting factor of his second hand slump that many of you are predicting is possible---This is his contract year.
Since the whole second half slump seems like public knowledge, I suggest taking advantage of it by acquiring Lowell for little to nothing.

You cannot possibly say that you would rather have Lowell than Miggy or A-Ram. Chris Shelton was the best 1B in baseball this time last year, and look how that ended up.
Lowell has always been a decent 3B; the move to Fenway with a smaller park and better lineup have helped a lot. But don't expect him to post these numbers all year long.
